⚠ Key Corrections from Official Release
Cedar Park is HOME (Oct 16, Monroe Memorial) — not away as originally projected.  |  East View is HOME (Oct 2) — district opener at Monroe Memorial, not in Georgetown.  |  No bye week — schedule runs straight Aug 28 through Nov 6.  |  Dripping Springs is a SCRIMMAGE (Aug 20), score doesn't count.

2026 Identity Projection
Per Austin 6A Sports (Jay Plotkin, April 24, 2026): Sanders will "lean on talented OL and productive running backs while new QB develops." Defense must find new LB leaders — "key contributors up front and in secondary return." Williamson is the offensive foundation. The 2026 identity starts run-balanced before the passing game re-establishes. Sanders has done this before — three state semis in four years is the proof of concept. Do not panic about the departures.

Offensive Identity & Tendencies
Cedar Park is a physical run-first program built entirely around the ground game. With Frost Hill gone, QB David Cooper must carry more of the passing load while RB Cameron Graham steps into the feature role. Graham showed 103 yards in the playoff loss to Red Oak — promising but unproven as a full-season starter.

Offensive tendency: 65%+ run rate on 1st down, power runs on 2nd and short, QB Cooper becomes a bigger factor on 2nd and long. The 6A OL size jump is the biggest unknown — Quintero's physical run identity may need adjustment vs bigger 6A fronts.
Down & Distance — Offense
SituationRun%Pass%Key Tendency
1st Down65%35%Outside zone/power — Graham in 2026

3rd & Long20%80%Attack here — Cooper unproven at 6A
4th Down85%15%Quintero ALWAYS runs on 4th & short
Keys to Victory
1. Stop Graham at the line. Force Cooper to throw. His arm at 6A is unproven. Create 3rd-and-long situations.
2. Load the box on 3rd & short. Their run game converts short yardage automatically — sell out to stop it.
3. Score early, push pace. Run-first teams that fall behind must throw. Play to CP's weakness.
4. Watch for play-action deep. When you load the box to stop Graham, PA over the top is their answer. Keep safety in the post.

⭐ Season Finale — District Title Game
The 2025 co-district champions rematch. VHS beat Hutto 44-34 in 2025 — the head-to-head tiebreaker that gave VHS the district title. SA Johnson (VHS's Week 2 opponent) beat Hutto 56-37 in the 2025 area playoffs. Jaiden Fields (District MVP) plays both WR and CB for Hutto — he must be accounted for on EVERY snap of the game, both offensively and defensively.

Jaiden Fields — District MVP
WR / DB · Junior 2026 · D1 recruiters attending spring

Fields won District MVP as a sophomore. 2025: 259 rec yds, 5 TDs. His signature moment: 13-yd TD catch from Stefek with 6:56 left to seal a 35-34 comeback win vs Vista Ridge. He is Hutto's primary receiver AND their top defensive back — he covers opposing WR1 while simultaneously being the #1 target for their new QB.

VHS must account for Fields on literally every snap — both as a receiver to double-cover AND as the corner covering VHS's WR1. This creates unique personnel and game-plan challenges. Press-bracket coverage is the best answer on defense. On offense, use WR rotation to attack the side away from Fields.
Scoring Pattern 2025
PPG41.6 — high-scoring
PPG Allowed34.3 — porous defense
High-scoring games63-49, 56-7, 52-49 — shootout tendency
Comeback winsYes — trailed VR at halftime, won 35-34
Stefek departedNew QB is #1 unknown for 2026
Keys to Victory — Nov 6 Season Finale
1. Account for Fields on both sides every play. He is their offense AND defense. He cannot be matched against your WR1 1-on-1 — force scheme mismatches.
2. Attack their new QB early. Week 10 is his most pressure-filled game. Bring pressure on 1st and 2nd down to establish the pattern.
3. Score early. Hutto gave up 34 PPG in 2025. The offense must come out hot and put the game out of reach before Hutto's offense gets rolling.
4. Prepare for uptempo. Walraven's culture + Hutto's high-scoring identity = fast pace. VHS must be conditioned for November pace at full intensity.

Thu Night Note8 days before Cedar Park — compressed schedule
Vista Ridge has low return % but a stingy defense and an experienced coach. Will Johnson + new QB chemistry is the key 2026 storyline. VHS held them to 10 points in 2025 — replicate that scheme. The Thursday night road game on Oct 8 is immediately followed by the Cedar Park home game on Oct 16. Schedule compression is real — VHS must be prepared to win a grind game on the road on short rest.

Spring GameMay 14 · Described as "solid in trenches"
Classification Jump5A → 6A for 2026
East View's profile was significantly upgraded — they were mislabeled as 5-6 but actually went 7-4 with a Cedar Park upset. District opener at HOME on Oct 2 — VHS cannot overlook this. Three D1 recruits make them physically talented. The trench identity (good OL/DL) is a potential style matchup issue if VHS's new OL is still developing. Pull their non-district Weeks 1-4 results before Oct 2.

Key ReturnerWR Aubryn Davis — 1,000 receiving yards
Key LossQB London Morgan — dynamic engine gone
AD Return %3.4% — low
Classification5A → 6A · Unknown ceiling
Aubryn Davis (1,000-yd WR) is a legitimate weapon but needs a QB. Morgan's departure is program-changing. Senior Night + LISD rivalry means maximum home crowd atmosphere. VHS should be favored but must execute — this is Week 9 with Hutto a week away. Double-cover Davis on all passing downs. Win cleanly and focus on preparation for Hutto.

Last Playoff Year2013 — 12 consecutive misses
New Starters Needed8 offense + 10 defense
Spring PracticeNone — skipping
Most predictable result on the schedule. VHS should win by multiple scores. The only risk is complacency — this is an LISD crosstown rivalry at Bible Stadium with a full crowd. Sanders' teams do not overlook opponents. Execute the game plan, build momentum for the Rouse-Hutto finish. Leander was shut out 0-45 in 2025 by Lake Belton — the talent gap is significant.
Non-District Opponents
SA Brennan · SA Johnson · Liberty Hill · Round Rock · Dripping Springs (scrimmage)
⚠ Non-District Schedule Assessment
This is NOT a soft non-district schedule. SA Johnson was 13-1 and eliminated Hutto 56-37. SA Brennan was 10-2 and is a 10-win perennial program. Liberty Hill runs the Slot-T option which requires completely different defensive preparation. VHS will be battle-tested before district opens.

2026 VenueMonroe Memorial — HOME for VHS ✓
Hardest non-district game by far. 13-1 program. T.P. Miller is an elite coach. D1 coaches will be in the stands for Future Viper Night watching both teams. The new VHS QB is on a national recruiting stage in Week 2. Losing is not catastrophic — winning would be a massive program statement. The fact that Johnson eliminated Hutto gives VHS early film on the team they play in Week 10.

True road opener for the new QB. San Antonio trip to Ferris Stadium against a 10-win program in front of their home crowd. Consistent, well-coached program. Pull Brennan's 2025 schedule and key players from PigSkinPrep before August. This is the new QB's first live fire under real adversity. Sanders scheduled this intentionally.

SLOT-T OPTION OFFENSE — Dave Campbell's Texas Football calls them "The Slot-T Super Team." This is a run-first triple-option attack closely resembling Army's option system. It requires completely different defensive preparation than any spread or pro-style offense VHS typically prepares for. Every defender has an assignment — option contain, QB assignment, pitch read, gap integrity.

Keys to stopping the Slot-T: 1) Contain player on QB every play. 2) DE holds edge, does not crash inside. 3) LB reads fullback path, not QB. 4) Press the slot back to disrupt pitch timing. 5) Force them to throw — their 2026 passing game is unproven with only 3 defensive starters returning.
Round Rock Dragons — Week 4 · Fri Sep 18 · HOME · Homecoming
2025: 5-6. VHS beat them 23-17 in a close 2025 district finale. Homecoming game = full home crowd, alumni atmosphere. Good confidence-builder and final evaluation before district opens Oct 2. Last chance to identify any remaining scheme issues before real district play begins.

Program Pedigree — Why This Matters for 2026
VHS ranked #79 nationally and #27 in Texas (On3 preseason). When D1 coaches come to scout District 24-6A opponents, they watch VHS players simultaneously. Future Viper Night (Week 2 vs Johnson, Sep 4) is a dedicated recruiting showcase with D1 coaches in attendance. The new QB, WR1, and Williamson will attract national attention immediately if they perform well in the first two games.
